“When health is absent, Wisdom cannot reveal itself, Art
cannot manifest, Strength cannot fight, Wealth becomes
useless and Intelligence cannot be applied”

The COS Giant Pantry is a direct response to the growing challenge of food insecurity students face. The COS Heath Center addresses many aspects of student health to ensure they may excel in their studies. Food insecurity and proper nutrition are important factors in student success. By providing confidential access to emergency food. COS Health Center staff can assist a student in need immediately while also providing service referrals and counseling to assist student over the long-term.

Initial college funding and staff support coupled with funding from the COS Foundation has enabled the Giant Pantry to compliment other food resources on campus, including Nutrition on the Go and the Mobile Pantry on the Tulare and Hanford Campuses.

Donations contributed by COS Giant Pantry Partners are leveraged through a few different community food pantries and businesses.

On February 7th, College of the Sequoias Superintendent/President, Stan Carrizosa and Health Center Nurse, Cynthia Norvall accepted the Making a Difference in the Community award from the Soroptomist Club of Visalia.
