Coach Dana Gomez

Fourteen-year pitching coach Dana Gomez has helped many Giants pitchers continue their playing careers at the four-year and professional level. Both Dylan Lee (Fresno State) and Tyler Beardsley (Sacramento State) from 2014’s championship squad are currently playing in the minor leagues.
A graduate of Redwood High School, Dana played from 1981 to 1983 at COS for legendary coaches Bert Holt and Pete Beiden. While at COS, Dana posted a two-year record of 19-5 as a starting pitcher. He also earned first-team all-league honors two years in a row. He moved on to pitch at Cal State Hayward, where he was named the Most Valuable Pitcher in his junior year. Dana was selected in the 1986 winter draft by the Boston Red Sox and played two and a half seasons, with a stint at the Triple A level, before ending his professional career.
Dana returned to COS in 1988 as an assistant to Coach Holt. He spent three years at Redwood High School as the pitching coach prior to joining the COS staff. Dana and his wife, Tammy, have a son, Chase. He has two other children, Nicole and Erica.
