Coach Scott Laird

Scott Laird is entering his sixth year as a coach for the Giants. Laird graduated from Mt. Whitney High School in 2007, where he excelled in football and baseball. He helped the Pioneers win a Valley football championship in 2006. Laird moved on to play here at College of the Sequoias in 2008 and 2009. In 2008, he was a first team all-Central Valley Conference selection and was also voted on to the Gold Glove Team. In 2009, Laird hit 20 doubles, tying the COS record held by former MLB all-star, Johnny Estrada. Laird’s performance on the field led him to once again capture first-team all-conference honors as well as a second gold glove. Laird was voted team captain and Giant of the Year in 2009. After his two-year stint with the Giants, Laird went on to play for the Fresno Pacific University Sunbirds in 2011 and 2012. Laird excelled not only on the field, but also in the classroom, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology in 2012. Coach Laird is heavily involved in the program’s recruiting and is currently working as the outfield coach.
