New to COS? Learn the basics for a successful entry into the College of the Sequoias!


  1. Plan ahead - Complete the matriculation steps early. Registration for fall and summer classes begin in March. Registration for spring classes begin in November. 
  2. Prepare for the placement tests. Review practice placement test prior to taking the test and take the test seriously. 
  3. 450032847.jpgMeet with a Counselor early to understand your course requirements. Counseling appointments get booked weeks in advance especially during registration time so don't wait!
  4. If transferring from another college, send official transcripts to Admissions and Records or bring the official copies with you to your counseling appointment. It is necessary for you to meet with a counselor to better understand what remaining courses you have left to complete at COS.
  5. Access Campus Resources 
  6. Attend and/or watch orientation prior to your first semester at COS.
  7. Always register for courses on your specified day and time. Classes fill fast so check banner web or your email for your specific date.
  8. Access your COS email and check weekly.
  9. Ask questions. You are responsible for your education in college.
  10. Begin exploring majors and careers early
